Captain America: Civil War Opens Big

In a not so surprising Marvel turn of events, Captain America: Civil War opens at a projected $181.8 million domestic opening. This would put it in fifth for the biggest opening weekend.

That fact is reflected in the numbers, as it’s now being reported that Civil War came in with a projected $181.8 million at the domestic box office, following a spectacular bow overseas to some $202 million last weekend. That would make the film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the fifth highest opening in the history of the industry, and the fourth Marvel title to enter the top ten best domestic opening weekends of all time.
