MCU Phase 4 – Speculation

MCU Phase 4 – Speculation

Alright, we’re wrapping up Marvel Avengers: Endgame week where I’ve seen Avengers: Endgame, for the second time last night. Quick side not before we get into what we know, what we don’t know, and what I hope, Avengers: Endgame, just as good on a second […]

CONvergence 2017 Roundup

CONvergence 2017 Roundup

It’s that time of year again, folks! Peder and I just spent a fantastic long weekend at CONvergence, one of the largest nerdy conventions that takes place in the Twin Cities. In my opinion, it was one of our best cons yet, made all the […]

Everyday Cosplay

Everyday Cosplay

As a novice cosplayer, I spend increasingly more time thinking of cosplays I want to do, and scheming of ways to put them together. My next cosplay event isn’t until July, and I’m already well on my way to having my costumes figured out (and even some of the pieces bought!).

But though I spend a fair bit of time plotting future cosplays, it’s always a long time between events, and a lot of work ends up going into costumes that really, I’ll only spend a few hours wearing. As much as I enjoy going to cons and cosplaying, sometimes it’s fun to have something that I can get a little more mileage out of.

What am I talking about? Why, everyday cosplay, of course! Simply put, it’s a way to rep your favorite stories and characters during a normal day — to subtly (or not-so-subtly, if you choose) show your geeky pride, just for the sheer joy of it.

There are tons of ways to incorporate casual cosplay into a regular day–ways that go beyond just wearing a t-shirt with your favorite superhero on it (though that’s always great fun too). You can go subtle with clever jewelry, like this Divergent-inspired necklace:

Or a little bolder:

You can wear an accent piece that can be covered or shown at will:

Or go all out and put together an outfit inspired by your favorite character’s look:

And you can even take it one step further and decorate your house with nerdy swag:

These are just a few ways to incorporate fandom love into your everyday environment. Don’t wait until the next convention to bring the magic of your favorite stories to life in the real world — carry a little piece of that magic with you all day!

Indiana Jones 5

Indiana Jones 5

Why Disney, why? Well, before I really start complaining too much, I would have to say, I have enjoyed the franchise, and I wouldn’t mind seeing it come back. But with Harrison Ford? He’s 73 now, and in 2019, even older than that. How is […]

Cosplay on a Budget

Cosplay on a Budget

As I mentioned in my last post, the prospect of starting a cosplaying hobby can be intimidating — and often, the biggest reason is cost. Though you can invest as little or as much as you want to into a costume, there’s no denying that, as […]

Through the Looking Glass Teaser

Through the Looking Glass Teaser

I enjoyed the first Alice in Wonderland that was made with Mia Wasikowska. So I’m curious to see if this one is also visually entertaining and kind of fun.

So, the Russo’s are saying, we can see a whole lot of people fighting against Thanos, and just in the film in general. We have so many characters we’re dealing with.  We’re breaking ground on Avengers: Infinity War. We have a board with 67 characters […]
