Harriet McDougal, wife of the late Robert Jordan, dropped some exciting news late Thursday: the TV rights to Jordan’s Wheel of Time fantasy epic have been acquired by a major studio.

I’ve personally enjoyed this series more than Game of Thrones. And as long as they don’t spend all the time that the series does getting lost in a ponderous middle, they should be able to turn this into a nice, fairly long running, epic series.

That fact is reflected in the numbers, as it’s now being reported that Civil War came in with a projected $181.8 million at the domestic box office, following a spectacular bow overseas to some $202 million last weekend. That would make the film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the fifth highest opening in the history of the industry, and the fourth Marvel title to enter the top ten best domestic opening weekends of all time.

Woo hoo, we have our first teaser for Doctor Strange. Being kind of a comic book nerd, I’ve read some of his older comics (there isn’t a current Doctor Strange title), and watched some of his animated movies. I really like his character, and in this trailer, Benedict Cumberbatch nails it. I’m very excited for this movie, and I think it’ll be another great example, along with Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man on how Marvel takes lesser known or not currently known characters and makes good movies out of them.

Who else is excited by this trailer?

Have to say, this was a well done teaser, which shouldn’t be surprising with the amount of money and time HBO puts into the show. I’m really hoping it isn’t like last season where the first half of the season was boring, and the second half of the season hasn’t been watched yet, because I was bored by the first half.
