Fantasy Flight

Fantasy Flight has been teasing something new. Normally I would think they’d tease this about GenCon time. But they are announcing some new things now just because GenCon has been pushed back to September.

Firstly, we have the Mad Titan coming to Marvel Champions. This is going to be a campaign expansion coming like the Rise of the Red Skull and Galaxy’s Most Wanted. This one is giving you Thanos and a bunch of his minions like Proxima Midnight, Black Dwarf, and more to face off against. Definitely interested to get this one and cool to have an announcement for.

But that’s not the only thing that Fantasy Flight is teasing at this point. They are also teasing some announcement coming next week. Now there is a lot of speculation what this might be. From what we can see, I think there are two likely ways that we can go. Firstly this might be the solo/story driven stuff they have been hinting at for Keyforge. In fact, that’s the most likely thing, I believe. But people are also speculating this might be a reword of Battlestar Galactica. There was a “leak” of an Arkham Files game using the BSG traitor set-up on BGG at one point in time. I won’t be holding my breath for that, but I can hope.

Welcome To

Now, this one, I am having trouble finding a ton on. I’ve seen artwork posted on Facebook but no links yet for it, but a new version of Welcome To. This time Welcome To … The Moon. I am not going to be surprised if there are more versions of this roll and write coming out. Welcome To… is a very successful game that has a ton of expansions. And Welcome To New Vegas is one that I own but I need to play still. It makes it more complex but keeps some of the basics of the game.

I am definitely interested in this one as the artwork gives you a nice look at a rocket ship that it looks like you are filling out. It has some of that retro look that you get from the other games as well. So I hope it succeeds because I want more roll and writes and more Welcome To.

I decided to try something a little bit different with the podcast last night. Normally I’ve talked about some movie, show, or comic book, last night I talked about a character, Carol Danvers and how she’s been used in the comics and how her story there compares to what we saw in the Captain Marvel movie.

As for the news, I talk about the Annihilation – Scourge story that is coming out across the Marvel books with the Fantastic Four and Nova. It was a slower week for news, and of course, after I recorded, a Black Widow teaser trailer was released.

I realize that this isn’t a great film by any means, but it is one of those summer films that I really like. The action is fun, the plot holds together just well enough to keep it being entertaining. I’m very interested to watch the new one. I’m not sure that I’ll go see it in theaters, but it looked pretty fun. And Jeff Goldblum is one of those people who I enjoy watching in a movie almost without question.

Woo hoo, we have our first teaser for Doctor Strange. Being kind of a comic book nerd, I’ve read some of his older comics (there isn’t a current Doctor Strange title), and watched some of his animated movies. I really like his character, and in this trailer, Benedict Cumberbatch nails it. I’m very excited for this movie, and I think it’ll be another great example, along with Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man on how Marvel takes lesser known or not currently known characters and makes good movies out of them.

Who else is excited by this trailer?

Pretty exciting, we have our first non-trilogy Star Wars movie coming out. We get a quick teaser and look into the world when the Death Star was being built. I know that I’m excited for this move.

Have to say, this was a well done teaser, which shouldn’t be surprising with the amount of money and time HBO puts into the show. I’m really hoping it isn’t like last season where the first half of the season was boring, and the second half of the season hasn’t been watched yet, because I was bored by the first half.
