Point of Order: Cross Clues

This one is thanks to the Dice Tower and their Summer Spectacular.

Cross Clues is a really interesting game because it’s a cooperative party game. And I’m always interested in those, like Just One. In this game you put out a 5 by 5 grid on hard and a 3 by 3 grid for easy (I’m assuming 4 x 4 for medium) of A through ? and 1 through ? depending on the size. Each card then has a word slid under it, and each of these word cards has 4 words on it, so you randomly pick which one. Then each player takes two cards from a pile that have all the coordinates in the grid. So it might have A1 on it. If the word for A is “monkey” and the word on 1 is “scream” you could come up with a clue like “howler”. The players then look at the possible coordinate points on the grid and they guess where it goes. You’re goal is to get half the clues guessed rounded down to get a “winning” score, at least that’s how they were playing it. I’m guessing it has levels with how well you do.

I like this for a game because while it says 2 to 6 players, I could see playing with a higher player count. If people are just guessing, that’d work well. I also think this one will work well for doing digital board game nights. Whomever has the game can be the person giving the clues, or in the case of me running board game night, my wife and I could be clue givers, and everyone else could guess. The game seems to play fast and have a lot of replayability, so even once we’re done with digital game nights it’ll be a good start or end to a game night sort of game.

So, is Cross Clues an interesting game to you? Do you like cooperative party games?
