A week ago, I put out a video going through all of the games to demo at Gen Con in 2023. Yesterday, I went through the list, the longer list, of games that will be for sale at Gen Con. It is a lot to go through, so come in with a plan of attack if you’re going to be at Gen Con. The list that I went through, from Board Game Geek, is only new games for sale there, or games for the first time there. So see what looks good to you as I go through the games available to buy.

Buying Games at Gen Con

Let’s talk a bit about buying games at Gen Con. I think that most people come in with a plan, and that’s a good thing. But if you don’t, it is one of those things that you might want to think about. When I go to Gen Con, I give myself a budget. How much do I want to spend on games, and throughout the weekend I go through that budget.

And I think that is the simple way to handle it. Set, for yourself, a budget on how much yo want to spend. I set myself a budget for games, I don’t overlap that with a budget for food. Now, I tackle food differently to keep it from being too expensive. I eat a meal a day out at a restaurant or a food truck, so my budget for food is fairly low. I find that works well for me because I then pack snacks, so I take a lunch break and have a decent snack lunch.

But let’s get back to buying board games. You set a budget, whatever that is. It is easy to get through 100% of the budget in the first day if you really wanted to. I tend to avoid that, if I can. Now, some booths and some games, they are going to be sold out fast. So you might even need to go quickly if they really interest you. Spider-geddon for Marvel United I expect will go quickly.

But I prefer to walk around, get an idea of what is there, and I do most of my shopping on Saturday. If they go quickly, I can get it at retail later. This is the first time where I know of a game that, at least this version, will just be Gen Con 2023. And that doesn’t mean it won’t be available later, it just means that there is a “special” by that I mean “early” version of the game. So even that is not a game that you don’t need to run for.

Upcoming Streams

To keep it simple, I plan on streaming next Monday. Expect it to be at 9 PM Central, a slightly change to the schedule that will be a change going forward. What I plan on playing, or doing, I am not sure. It might be more of an unboxing for Vampire the Masquerade – Chapters or other games that have come in recently.

Next Wednesday there is no stream. I will be settling into my AirBnB in Indianapolis at my normal streaming time. The following Monday I plan to be back to streaming. What am I going to do, probably talk about Gen Con, shockingly. Give some initial thoughts and figure out what I found was a fun time. So expect that then with Wednesday getting back to Isofarian Guard after Gen Con.
