Top 5 Upcoming Kickstarter Crowdfunding Projects

I put out a list of Gamefound games yesterday. Today it is going to be five games coming to Kickstarter that I want to checkout. Can I back all ten games between the two, sure, but should I is the question. And I really want to look into these more than they are instant backs for me. Of course with Kickstarter there is sometimes less information out there on a game so my thoughts are going to be around the tiny bit that is out there for them.

Top 5 Kickstarter Campaigns in 2025

5. Lost Lumina

This one interests me first off for the cute animal artwork. I think that it sounds interesting as well in terms of what the game does. I like that it’s card drafting and it’s a two player head to head game. And I like area control at two players because that means that you lock in against one other person and there is no ganging up.

But I will say, and this is why it’s so low on the list, that area control is just okay in terms of a goal for me. So I want to know more about the game play because I hope that it’s something that will offer an interesting challenge as you play it to go along with the artwork.

4. Terminus Frontier

Normally a giant game is way up the list and very far up there for me. This one is a bit further down because I want to know how much of the game is going to be tactical squad combat. It says that first, and that isn’t a bad thing. But it mentions space exploration and adventure, and I want to know more about those two elements of the game. A tactical game can work for me, especially since there is a solo mode for this game.

Really, to make this simple, what I need to do is watch the Meet Me At The Table Playthrough of it. I trust their opinions and their ability to play a game mainly right. So it should show me how the game is going to work and hopefully give me an idea if it’s for me. But if they got sent it and were interested in doing a preview and playthrough for it, I think it’s very likely going to be the type of game that I want to play.

3. Dragonbond Quest

I don’t know a ton about this one. And this is the issue with Kickstarter versus Gamefound. I think Gamefound makes you put more on your page. But there are a couple of things that catch my eye here. First it is from the team behind Heroes of Terrinoth and Warhammer Quest. I haven’t played either, but they are on my list to try. And I believe that’s the Sadler brothers who did those two, so I assume they are involved in this. Though their previous company, though this was after they left, ran into troubles. But I want to know more about this one.

2. Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos

There is a Tomb Raider game out there already, and it is bad. So this an IP that definitely needs to have a good game made about it. I hope that it gets that fun of puzzle solving, combat, and adventure that you get from the Tomb Raider games, because I think that sounds like a lot of fun. What I don’t want is another game that is mainly out there for the IP being slapped on it.

The page has a lot about the story of the game. By that I mean the story in the game. What I want to see is more about the mechanisms in the game. Because with some good mechanisms and a well thought out story, it should be a lot of fun because a game like this needs both. And it really is better than a competitive game where everyone is Lara Croft like the other one.

1. Pirate’s Plunder

Again another page that has basically nothing on it. So it’s possible that some of these won’t even come to crowdfunding this year. But I hope that it does because this one sounds interesting. It’s a solo pirate adventure card game. I like solo games, I like pirate games (when they are good) and I love a good adventure game.

I will say that it’s mainly just from the name and the image that I’m interested in this one. Is it truly my number one, no but it’s probably the one that I want to know the most about or tied up there with Tomb Raider. And like the Tomb Raider one, not a ton of details as to what the game is going to be about.

Which Interests You Most?

First off, let’s say, Kickstarter get your act together. Or companies on Kickstarter get your act together. I shouldn’t see pages where there isn’t any information. I’m looking at you Pirate’s Plunder and Dragonbond Quest. But there is little to no information and I could likely track down more somewhere, but this list is a first impressions. You did well enough to catch my attention, but will I remember you when you launch, who knows?

What other games are coming to crowdfunding in 2025 that I should know about? Let me know if they are on Gamefound or Kickstarter and if there is something you want me to see if I can play or investigate ahead of time, let me know.
