Slay the Spire – Game 12

It’s time for some more Slay the Spire. I’m still getting back into the swing of posting/streaming after being sick for about a week. So I decided to ease my way back into it with some Slay the Spire. See how the runs went with the Ironclad and if I made it all the way to the top of the spire.

Favorite Slay the Spire Ironclad Cards

Decided to do something different. I think that it’ll be fun over the next few times to talk about my top cards for the characters. Your milage will vary because you might go about playing them differently than I do. But how I play, these are some of my favorite cards. I’m limiting myself to five.

Bash

On of my favorite mechanics in Slay the Spire is vulnerability. Being able to ramp up damage faster is a lot of fun and it can make harder to kill monsters go down much faster. So even though it’s a starting card, I really like Bash. It makes getting through early monsters much faster and when you can, later in the game go into Bash after having set-up some strength boosts, you can start to do a ton of damage.

Heavy Blade

Speaking of things that need strength, I love Heavy Blade. That and Perfect Strike are two really good cards for dealing a lot of damage. Again, you need to boost strength, but as you start to do that in mid to late game, it can make for some crazy swings. I don’t have the zero cost strength boosting card in the list, but that makes Heavy Blade playable early in your Slay the Spire climb.

Spot Weakness

Now we’re onto two cards that boost your strength. Spot Weakness is one of my favorites because it’s a solid boost, at one cost, that sticks. That’s what makes it that much better than the 0 cost card that boosts strength and then it goes away. Spot Weakness is situational, though, because you need them to be attacking. But generally you can time it up, and then you’re starting to boost your damage fast.

Demon Form

And now it’s more strength building, Demon Form is all about that. It does spend a whole turn early on, but when you’re adding two or three strength a turn, damage ramps very quickly. And I like powers, generally, because that means my deck of cards is thinner and this, for the Ironclad is by far the best power.

Reaper

Finally, I really like Reaper. I was debating between Reaper, Feed, and Limit Break. I picked Reaper, though, because it’s a good way to balance out health again. When I go to a fire to rest, I don’t need to rest, always, if I have Reaper, so that means that I can upgrade it and other cards which pushes other parts of the strategy. It’s okay for damage, but very useful for health.

Upcoming Streams

We’ll be on a different schedule coming up here. Not in terms of time, still 9 PM Central on Monday and 8 PM Central on Wednesday. But Isofarian Guard is going to be on hold for a few weeks. And I do think I plan on using Isofarian Guard to wrap up the year. But the next ten weeks or so are going to be my Top 100 Games (of All Time) 2023 Edition. So join me for that.

But the best way, if you want to know when I go live or a new video goes up (it’s basically always live), please consider subscribing. You can do that here. And click that notification bell on the channel and you’ll always know when I go live.
