Anticipated Anime of 2024

It’s the holiday week, so it’s time to go through and talk about what’s coming up in 2024. I expect it to be another exciting year and another, hopefully, big year for anime. I am really hoping for some seasons like My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 and Bottom Tier Characters Tomozaki Season 2. But we’ll see if those happen. Let’s see what anime should be coming in 2024 that I’m excited for.

Top 10 Anticipated Anime of 2024

10. The Witch and the Beast

Let’s start out with one that is a lot of aesthetic. I think that it looks cool, it looks shiny, and it looks like the world has a mood to it. It reminds me of other anime that drew me in by the aesthetic like Ancient Magus Bride and FairyGone. Some better than others, so I hope it has a really interesting plot as well.

9. Mission: Yozakura Family

Now we move into a weird sounding romance anime. It’s about the yakuza and love and how the only person who can show interest in this one girl is the person who she marries. So now in order for a hit not to be taken out the main character needs to get married. Of course, that isn’t going to be all that simple.

8. Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night

Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night caught my attention because it’s from the same writer/creator as Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki. Is it going to be as good, I’m not sure, but I’m very curious about it. It looks like a unique story and an unique anime still about coming of age or finding yourself.

7. Tales of Wedding Rings

Now it’s an isekai romance of sorts. With Tales of Wedding Rings being the name, it certainly sounds like that. The main character falls in love and proposes to a girl in the real world. When that happens they get transported to another world where they are going to need to be the heroes for the land, as part of basically getting married. It sounds like a fun time to me.

6. The New Gate

Now we’re getting into some manga that I’ve read. The New Gate is one that I’ve enjoyed pretty well. It’s an isekai about a death game, or something similar to that. The main character is the hero who defeats the main boss at the end of the game, freeing everyone. Now he walks through a gate and instead of logging out, he finds himself in the world 500 years in the future. And it’s his adventure in that world, which is pretty fun.

5. Kaiju No. 8

The rest are ones that I’ve read, at least some of, though #4 is just starting to get read. Kaiju No. 8 is a great kaiju fighting manga and I have high hopes for the anime. Yes, it’s going to be a lot of cool fight scenes but also some good comedy and a good story of a character who goes from someone who cleans up the mess after a kaiju fight to becoming Kaiju No. 8 to being now someone who fights the kaiju. I really appreciate the blend of humor and action that it has. The plot I expect is not going to blow people away, but it is still a fun time.

4. Sign of Affection

Now the one that I am starting to read. Sign of Affection is another romance story and one that has a fun twist to it. The main character feels separated from the world because she’s deaf. When one of her friend’s friends takes interest in her and who she is, her whole world starts to change. I expect this to be a really cute romance story as I read it and watch it.

3. Delicious In Dungeon

Delicious in Dungeon asks the question, what if you ate the monsters and things that you found in the dungeon. Imagine a game of Dungeons and Dragons, you’re all out of rations, but that’s okay. In the dungeon there is all you need to eat. The story is fun, and it should be, in each episode, about the silly dishes that they make and the adventures and growth to get there.

2. Dandadan

Dandadan is a horror comedy manga that I am excited to see how they turn it into an anime. It’s over the top, it leans into all sorts of crazy monsters and aliens and just completely absurd situations. The story is of one person who believes in monsters but not aliens and another who thinks it’s the other way around. Turns out that both of them are right, and, well, things just get crazier from there. It’s going to be fan service, action, and comedy all bundled into one.

1. Solo Leveling

I’m pretty sure that Solo Leveling was on my list last year for 2023. Well, it is coming out in 2024 and at the very start of January. I am every excited for this one. I love the kind of edgy nature of a character who goes from a nobody hunter to being one of the most powerful due to some lousy events. And I like the action in the manga, so I am excited to see that translated onto the screen.

It does a lot of things that are just fun while being edgy, but not edgy in an annoying way. My hope is the manga keeps the heart of the character because otherwise it could turn into an annoying edgy story pretty quickly.

Final Thoughts

There are going to be so many more anime announced throughout the year. I did see while looking that Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki is coming in January as well. So that is one of my most anticipated, but it’s not a new show. The same can be said for Mashle Season 2, and I’m sure there will be more as well.

And there are some shows that got bumped off the list. Like Chained Soldier, this one is going to be over the top action and fan service. I plan to check it out, but it’s one of them that I’ll get it when I get to it. And there are a number of anime that I need to catch up on fully. You can see that from my anime list that I put out just over a week ago.

Is there a 2024 anime that you are most excited for? A show coming back or a completely new season?
