The Page

Normally I talk about first time creators, but I know, not personally, this creator, and how the process for this has been. Dan Hughes and his daughter Cora make videos, at times, for the Dice Tower, mainly about gaming with children. And this game was actually a school from home project that he had Cora do that eventually turned into a full blown game, so it’s a cool idea.

The page does a better job than some of laying out how the game works, though like most that part is lacking a little bit. And of course, you can go play it on TableTopSimulator and TableTopia. But the page really has everything that you’d expect, a broad overview of the game, a good look at the aesthetic of the game, and shipping costs. So for first time creators, they’ve done everything right with the page.

The Game

The game itself looks simple and fun. This is supposed to be a dice chucker style dungeon crawl for the whole family. I like that the game has adventures that you go on in it, so it’s not just a random dungeon crawl. So really it’s a family weight dungeon crawl or even could be called a gateway dungeon crawl style of game. That’s not something that there is much of in the market.

And I like how it keeps the mechanics simple, it’s a dice rolling game for the most part. Yes there are some items and treasure cards, but most of it will be rolling the dice. And it does a good job making it work if you completely miss, you flip over to a determined side and get to roll more dice next turn. The whole thing is just simply done which is what it aimed for, and I think that a lot of people are going to love playing this as a family.

Back or Brick

So, is this a back or a brick for me. This is a Back for me, this game looks good and makes sense for a family who is maybe looking to get some younger kids into gaming but should be fun enough for the whole family to play together. I actually probably won’t be backing this, but I don’t think that you will be disappointed if you do back it. I hope it comes to retail so I can pick it up when my toddler is a little bit older and can handle more than “My Very First Games Animal Upon Animal” and by handle I mean do more than play with the chunky farm animals.

How about for you, is this game a back or a brick?
